Richard's Homepage!

I'm Richard

Glad you came by for a visit. This is my first home page, and I still have a lot of learning to do. If you have a few moments, don't forget to visit my Barnes and Nobel bookstore and order a few books on-line. I turned 52 years old on October 23 of last year. Gee! That is still hard to believe. I live with my wife Cheryl near Sacramento, California. We have been married for nearly 25 good years. They have gone fast, and we have had a lot of special times and hope the next 25 are just as good. A big reason for this has been our children. They are special.

They are Jesse, 24; Michael, 22; Christa, 20; Rachel, 14; Rebecca, 11; and Emily, 8.

A WORD ABOUT DAD

My father was Richard Yniguez. He was born April 25, 1922 in Mexico. He was my life long hero. He died suddenly in the early morning of September 7, 1993. He was also my mentor, my role model, and most of all, my best friend. His passing has left a void in my life that cannot be filled. I thank God that he was a part of my life, and for the honor of being his son.
I miss you, Dad.

MORE ABOUT ME

My interestes are many and varied. Naturally auto racing is something I am passionate about. I also like history, especially American history, current events, movies, music, the arts, trivia, friendships, passion, relationships, and just talking about being human. I have many close and dear friends in my real life world. People that I work with and have had the pleasure of sharing a great professional career. Working with these people, my friends, means a lot to me. We work in a world of helping others and trying to make things a little bit better. These dedicated people along with my wife and kids, make life most enjoyable. So I am blessed with a good home life and a work world that is fun to be a part of. So I am in a pretty good spot.

LAST WEEK AT THE INIGUEZ HOUSE:

The Week of February 7, 2000

Monday was Jesse's birthday. His 24th. God, it seems only yesterday that I saw him for the first time. We called him in New York and everyone got to talk to him. It is snowing in upstate New York, and he really didn't do much. Poor boy, he misses home, but this is his last birthday while in the army. Jesse and I are going to Indianapolis for the United States Grand Prix Formula 1 race in September. Now that is something to look forward to.

We got our income taxes done this weeek. Earlier then we usually do...maybe because we got a good amount of money back that will help finance our trip to Hawaii in March. Cheryl and I will be going to Oahu and Hawaii for 5 days to mark our 25th Wedding Anniversary on March 15th. Neither of us have been to Hawaii, so it is something we are looking forward to. I will at least get to see Pearl Harbor, which is something I have always wanted to do. Michael and Christa also did their income taxes back, and they did real well themselve. Michael got enough money to help take care of of teenage misdirection. He and David are doing just fine. Michael has a place of his own now, and a good paying job, so hopefully he is on his way to better things. But he sure had to learn things the hard way. Christa continues to do well with college and work....and she still loves her new car.

Rachel, Rebecca, and Emily are all doing well in school. Rachel likes high school very much, although we are having a time keeping boys, especially older boys, away from her. She looks a bit older then her age, which is scary. Rebecca continues to do well. She got herself on television the other night. A local television station did a story on the declining number of nun in Catholic schools and filmed the story in Rebecca's class room. So there was our little television star, sitting in the back row. Emily remains Emily. She is as outgoing as ever. Still has trouble keeping quiet in school....she just has so much energy. She is a killer on her Nintendo game, and loves reading Harry Potter....her favorite stories. She ends her days wer me reading these stories to her. We are on Harry Potter and the Secret Chamber. Very good book.

Things continue to go well with me trying to start my own consultant business. I continue to meet potential clients, and lay the ground work. My own personal schedule for feeling comfortable is July 2000. If I don't feel that going on my own is working out, then I will return to state government. I enjoy working from home....but it needs more focus and dedication. There are many distractions at home, not the least of which is little David visiting everyday. Cheryl got a nice surprise. It seems her paternal grandmother, who passed away in 1993, had some stock hidden away, and the state finally contacted Cheryl about these funds, that now belonged to her as one of only two surviving heirs. The other is Cheryl's brother Raymond. Well, the two of them got to split nearly $60,000. That is a good bit of luck and the money will certainly help us out. At least we can get some of our bills under control. Thanks, grandma.
